A WORKING MANIFESTO
Three commitments. No innocence.
Not a promise of purity. A practice of making, witnessing, and questioning from inside the structures that shape us.
I. Resist domination.
Modernity teaches us to separate human from animal, culture from nature, the living from the useful. My art refuses these partitions and interrogates the systems that sustain them: extraction, capitalism, colonialism, patriarchy, hierarchy, consumption, and human exceptionalism.
II. Witness unraveling.
I make from the uneasy terrain of grief, anger, tenderness, beauty, and ecological precarity. The work is not an illustration of a thesis. It is a material record of living amid contradictions that cannot be neatly resolved.
III. Examine complicity.
My scholarly practice examines my own entanglement in the structures I critique. This reflection is essential, but it need not be pictured explicitly in every artwork. The studio and the research remain in conversation without collapsing into one another.
Resistance without self-examination can reproduce what it claims to oppose.
